As level editor I used Tiled with TMX file format, it's more suitable for 2D games, but can be used for 2.5/3D with some limitations.
I'm used here next textures:
Grounds: Floor Metal Plate 01 and Floor Metal Plate 02 by angelboiii, Beach Sand by Ice_9, Woeful Wood by Apple
Walls: Slimy Metal Plates by jitspoe,Wall Metal Plate 01 by angelboiii,Wood Lattice by Robin Wood,misc_bricks by schuubars

Great! this could be a great test bench for 3d engines, nice work and thx for sharing ;)
A truly ultimate post. I'm loving the comparisons of the different engines and the fact that the souce is available!!!
I just wish the rats were less scary. I'm gonna replace the images with fairies and recompile...
Nice! This was helpfull.
A conclusion by myself:
Amazing speed, Very good room-perspective. Great Graphicquality.
Semi-Good performance (slow), fairly good Graphics. Abnormal stretched room-perspective.
Semi-Good performance, a bit slow, but great graphics. Kinda weird stretched perpective
Som serious Texture-Bugs, som lags and then my Browser died :(
WOW this is so amazing !! thanks for sharing this !!!
We'll love to see a comparison against Flare3D.
We did a FPS in 3 hours !!!
YOu compared a professional tool agains hobbyst tools.
Flare3D is better, faster and easier..
Well, very nice! thanks for the source
Alternative3D doesn\'t have complex materials, doesn\'t have lights, doesn\'t have shaders... It is a very simple engine, that is why it is faster.
Both Away3D and Papervision3D provide all the above features and they have to perform more checks and calculations at runtime. That is why they are a bit slower. On the other hand they are more rich in features and they are open source, meaning that anyone can use and extend the code for any use, commercial or not. That is not allowed by Alternativa... Too bad for them.
The only comparison that would be valid is Alternativa3D vs Away3D Lite (a lighter and faster version of Away3D with similar features with Alternativa3D).
Alternativa 3D is forever!
Alternativa3D 7.7 have lighting system: http://blog.alternativaplatform.com/en/2011/03/12/alternativa3d-7_7_0-update/
You can see a benchmark I wrote for Alternativa,Flare and Away3D .
Is there any book on alternativa3d? i have papervision and away3d books but alternativa seem to work way faster than any of them
?????? ?? ???????????? ??? ?????? ??? ??? ?????? ??? ???? ????????????????
I have been searching over net and reading many blogs on away vs paper vs sandy vs flare, I was totally confused which one should I take,, but after seeing your samples comparing vs engines and after reading comments I decided to go with away 3d.
Reason - away 3d is growing faster and getting popular
- recently I have seen examples of many other engines, some of them show excellent material quality but too slow
- some are good but commercial
- but away 3d beat all of these, its free and better, and the samples I have seen yet loads quite fast, just one problem I could not find a good tutorial for beginners
Excellent 3d flash engine
Good, thanks for sharing , it is so cool. I love it
awsome for chromebook
